Billy Bragg has said that a world in which Donald Trump is president could produce a new generation of politically-motivated songwriters.
In a new interview with Music Week, Bragg pointed to the fact that a deeply uncertain political climate may well inspire younger artists to pursue a more political path.
“It’s a good time to be a political songwriter,” he commented. “But let’s have another generation of young songwriters come along and tell us all about it, about the pressure they feel under. That’s what I want to hear.”
In the interview, Bragg also discussed his latest album and his advocacy of digital music. You can read it in full here.
Meanwhile, number of leading artists have had their say on Trump’s surprise election triumph. Find out what the likes of Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and new London night czar Amy Lame had to say here.
