Following last year’s inaugural event, the BPI’s Classical Committee has announced its second annual Nordoff Robbins Classical Quiz.
Hosted once again by Jeremy Elliott asking questions set by Gramophone editor-in-chief James Jolly, the quiz will take place at 6.00pm on Wednesday, November 16 at Downstairs in the Phoenix, 37 Cavendish Square, London W1G 0PP.
Last year’s quiz raised £2,200 and was won by a team from Universal Music’s Decca Classics.
BPI Classical Committee member, PPL classical repertoire specialist Ben Hogwood, who commented: “This Classical quiz is inspired by the hugely successful pop quiz Nordoff Robbins has run for the last 20 years, and we hope that in time it can become just as popular. Last year we raised over £2,000, but we’d love to increase this amount and we encourage as many industry colleagues to take part as possible.”
Quiz organisers are now inviting teams from across the classical music and media community to register as soon as possible and support the cause. The entry fee is £150 per team with proceeds going to Nordoff Robbins. Many of the participating labels and companies are donating to the fundraising, and there will also be a cash raffle on the night featuring prizes ranging from concert tickets and seats at the national TV Awards to cases of wine and collector box sets.
Nordoff Robbins work with people of all ages and with a range of conditions. They deliver thousands of music therapy sessions per year in care homes, day centres, hospitals, schools and their own centres.
