BBC Radio 2 has confirmed a host of artists for this year’s BBC Radio 2 Live In Hyde Park festival - which takes place on Sunday September 9 in Hyde Park, London. The headliner will be announced on Friday June 15 on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show.
The first acts announced today (June 14) are Carrie Underwood, All Saints, Rita Ora, Lenny Kravitz, Band of Love and Manic Street Preachers.
Speaking about the line-up, Jeff Smith, head of music for BBC Radio 2, said: “Radio 2 Live in Hyde Park is one of the highlights in our musical calendar. Each year we aim to give the audience a very special show which reflects the diversity and range of the music we play on Radio 2. This year we go from one of country music’s most popular artists, Carrie Underwood through to a unique set of disco hits performed by an award winning folk stars ‘supergroup’, Band of Love. There’ll be the legendary rock of Lenny Kravitz, cool pop from All Saints, contemporary hit maker Rita Ora, one of the UK’s finest bands Manic Street Preachers.”
Carrie Underwood added: “I can’t wait to get back to the UK and to share new music. It is one of my favorite places to visit and the audiences have always been so wonderful.”
Part incarnations of the festival have seen performances from Take That, Shania Twain, Blondie, Elton John, Rod Stewart, Jeff Lynne’s ELO, Sir Tom Jones, Bryan Adams, LeAnn Rimes and The Corrs.
BBC Radio 2 Live In Hyde Park will be presented by Radio 2 presenters such as Ken Bruce, Jo Whiley, Simon Mayo, Jeremy Vine, Sara Cox, Claudia Winkleman, Trevor Nelson, Gary Davies, Michael Ball, Kate Bottley, OJ Borg, Anneka Rice, Angela Scanlon, Bob Harris, Johnnie Walker, Ricky Wilson, and more.
The festival is scheduled to be broadcast on Radio 2 from 1pm-9.30pm. Fans will also be able to watch the event live on the BBC Red Button TV channel, BBC iPlayer and via the Radio 2 website. Footage will be available to watch for 30 days on BBC iPlayer.
