Harry Gregson-Williams is set to receive the Icon award at this year’s BMI London Awards.
The composer, whose many film and TV credits include Shrek, Kingdom Of Heaven and The Martian, will be honoured on October 1 at the annual gala in at London’s Dorchester Hotel.
“Harry Gregson-Williams’ compositions bring the screen to life, and over the course of his illustrious career he’s made a lasting impression on music, film and television lovers across the globe,” said BMI President Michael O’Neill of the award.
Thanking the BMI Gregson Williams said: “BMI welcomed me into their fold well over 20 years ago, just as I began my somewhat speculative journey as an inexperienced yet hopeful film composer in Los Angeles. Their extraordinary support and encouragement has never wavered, both on a practical and personal level, and has always been something for which I am immensely grateful.”
Last year the BMI honoured Jay Kay with the President’s Award at the ceremony.
