Craig David and Robbie Williams to play BBC Music Awards

Robbie Williams and Craig David have been added to the bill for this year’s BBC Music Awards.

They join previously announced acts Kaiser Chiefs, Lukas Graham, Zara Larsson, The 1975 and Emeli Sandé, who will all perform at the ceremony on December 12 at London’s Excel Centre. Fearne Cotton and Claudia Winkleman will host the event, with BBC Radio 1’s Gemma Cairney revealed as BBC One’s backstage presenter on the night.

Craig David, who crowned his comeback with Number One album Following My Intuition in September, said: “It’s been an incredible 12 months and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than performing at the 2016 BBC Music Awards!”

The ceremony will feature three regular awards - BBC Music British Artist of the Year as decided by the BBC Music committee, Song of the Year voted for by the public and BBC Music Introducing Artist of the Year decided by the BBC Music Introducing panel - alongside two new categories that celebrate the best of live and recorded music. Those are the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge Performance of the Year, voted for by the Radio 1 Playlist Committee, and the BBC Radio 2 Album of the Year, voted for by the Radio 2 Playlist Committee.

The show is live on BBC television and via the BBC website between 8.30-10pm,with additional programming on Radio 1 and Radio 2. Tickets are available now, priced from £42-£62 via the BBC website.

Williams looks set to score his 12th Number One solo album this week with new release The Heavy Entertainment Show. The singer's former Take That bandmates presented him with the BRIT Award for Outstanding Contribution at London's Troxy on Monday (November 7)
