Dua Lipa has landed her first No.1 single in the UK and Ireland with her song New Rules.
The track has had more than 100 million streams across various digital platforms, and sales this week of 41,666 sees her dethrone Calvin Harris' Feels from the summit. New Rules has also charted on the US Billboard Hot 100.
Signed to Warner Bros Records, Dua Lipa is the first solo female to reach No.1 since Adele in 2015.
Phil Christie, president of Warner Bros. Records UK, said: “Dua's talent has never been in any doubt. A number one single at this stage in the campaign is a hugely significant milestone on the road to her becoming a global pop star. It's the result of three years of hard work and creativity from Dua, Ben and the team at Tap Management, and the whole of WB Records.”
With UK sales of 59,332, Dua Lipa’s eponymous album is the biggest-selling debut released by a British female solo artist this year. It is currently spending its third week in the Top 10 in the UK albums chart. Lipa will be touring with Bruno Mars across America, Australia and New Zealand later this year.
