Pharrell Williams has been unveiled as the first artist to sign up to the City Of Hope event in Los Angeles on October 11.
The artist, producer and hitmaker wil host the celebration, which will see Jon Platt, chairman and CEO of Warner/Chappell Music, honoured with the organisation’s Spirit Of Life Award.
“I’m honoured to join my good friend Jon to support the groundbreaking and life-saving advances at City of Hope,” said Williams. “I’ve had the pleasure of working with this amazing organisation before, and I’m looking forward to what promises to be a fantastic event.”
“I’m excited that my one of my closest friends and an iconic artist, Pharrell, has agreed to host the October gala,” said Platt. “As a committed philanthropist in his own right, I knew Pharrell would understand the importance of City of Hope’s mission and want to get involved. It’s going to be an amazing evening.”
City Of Hope is a treatment centre for cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases. Its music, film and entertainment industry group has raised over $118 million for the facility.
In 2016, City of Hope honoured Williams with the Songs of Hope Legend in Songwriting Award, presented by Clive Davis.
Further announcements will follow about the all-star line-up for the event.
