Rapper Kanye West has been hospitalised in Los Angeles, according to reports.
According to the BBC, a police spokesperson said they had received a disturbance call on Monday afternoon (November 21), but did not mention West by name.
He added that the disturbance was later deemed a medical incident and the fire department were called. A spokesman for the city’s fire service said an unnamed adult male in a “medically stable” condition was taken to hospital for “further assessment”.
Other reports have also emerged, containing conflicting information. TMZ said West was taken to hospital for “psychiatric evaluation” and had been seeking treatment for “severe sleep deprivation”, while NBC News reported that police responded to a “medical welfare call” and was hospitalised for his own health and safety after information from “multiple authorities familiar with the case.”
The news comes after it emerged that the rapper had cancelled his entire Saint Pablo tour after a show in Sacramento on Saturday (November 19) ended prematurely after a stage rant during which he criticised Facebook, Jay Z and Hilary Clinton.
While no reason has been offered for the pulled dates, Live Nation then announced refunds for all cancelled shows.
Meanwhile, prior to reports of his hospitalisation, Kris Jenner (mother of West’s wife Kim Kardashian) told American television show Extra: "He's exhausted, he's just really tired. He's had a gruelling tour and it's been a grind so he just needs some rest.”
