Lewis Capaldi's Someone You Loved tops US Hot 100

After a slow and steady ascent, Lewis Capaldi has topped the US Hot 100 with Someone You Loved.

Released by Vertigo/Capitol in the US, Someone You Loved reached the summit in its 24th week on the chart. It was boosted by being played during a routine on ABC’s Dancing With The Stars.

Capaldi’s single has secured his breakthrough in the US. It has earned 2.5m equivalent song units in the US (25.2m US streams).

Someone You Loved is No.1 on the US Top 40 Radio chart for the second week running. It spent two weeks at No.1 on the Hot AC Radio chart, and is No.1 on the US Shazam chart for the eighth consecutive week. It has also hit the Top 5 in the US Spotify chart.

The single has been certified platinum by the RIAA. Worldwide streams are approaching two billion, according to Capitol.

Capaldi is the first UK artist to reach the Hot 100 summit since Ed Sheeran with Perfect in January 2018. He’s the first debut act to top the US chart since Zayn in February 2016.

Someone You Loved (EMI) spent seven weeks at the UK summit earlier this year. It has sales to date of 2,065,982, according to the Official Charts Company.

The single was the biggest seller of the year to date up to Q3, while Capaldi’s No.1 debut LP Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent made No.2 overall behind The Greatest Showman. Divinely Uninspired... has moved over 1.5m adjusted albums worldwide and combined global streams now exceed 2.6bn.
