London Hospices Choir, Rag’N’Bone Man and the Inspiral Carpets are leading the race for Christmas No.1.
Official Charts Company figures based on preorders and early sales data show that, with six days to go until this year’s festive chart-topper is announced, London Hospices Choir – made up of staff, patients and volunteers from 18 London hospices – lead the way. Rag’N’Bone Man’s Human is 600 copies behind at No.2, while Inspiral Carpets Saturn 5 is at No.3.
X Factor winner Matt Terry’s When Christmas Comes Around and Clean Bandit’s Rockabye complete the Top 5.
London Hospices Choir’s The Living Years is a cover of Mike & The Mechanics’ 1988 hit, while Saturn 5 is the result of a fan-led campaign to get the Inspiral Carpets to No.1 following the death of drummer Craig Gill last month. Rag’N’Bone Man’s Human is the lead single from the debut album of the same name, due for release in February. The singer, real name Rory Graham, will receive the BRITs Critics’ Choice Award during the same week.
