David Dollimore has praised London Grammar as “one of the greatest UK bands to have broken in recent times”, as the trio hit No.1 for the first time with second album, Truth Is A Beautiful Thing.
Dollimore, president of RCA UK and Ministry Of Sound Recordings said: “We have never doubted their ability to connect with their fans and thanks to Ministry Of Sound’s new home at Sony Music, we have excelled ourselves and achieved a No.1 album. I would like to personally thank [band members] Hannah, Dan and Dot, September Management, Dipesh [Parmar] and his team for their belief and drive in delivering such an exceptional record.”
Released via Metal & Dust/Ministry Of Sound Recordings, the record is Ministry Of Sound’s first major artist release since Sony acquired the label last year.
It achieved a Week One sales figure of 43,403, eclipsing the 33,000 scored by debut If You Wait in 2013. That album peaked at No.2 and has sold 642,301 copies to date, according to The Official Charts Company. It has sold more than two million copies worldwide.
