Music Week gigs of the week: August 3-9

From thrilling new rock bands, to crushing death metal, to exciting electro-hip-hop sounds, it’s all happening in London town this week! All you need now is a beer and some ear plugs, but most importantly some beer…

Thursday, August 3

Burn The Fleet + Havelocke + Murderhouse + Chekhovs Gun, Birthdays, 8pm

After breaking up in 2013, the Southampton alt.rockers are back! So go along and be part of their first London show in five years. You might as well, since it’s free.

Friday, August 4

Milk Teeth + Employed To Serve + Wallflower, Borderline, 7pm

Two of the most exciting new bands in rock play the Borderline this week. It may be in need of a second renovation once they’re done.

Saturday, August 5

Aversions Crown, Venom Prison, Boston Music Room, 7pm

The Brisbane metallers won’t be bringing the Aussie sunshine with them when they descend upon Tufnell Park. They will, however, be bringing extreme cuts from their latest album Xenocide.

Sunday, August 6

Sons + Hyphen + The Caress + Jimmy & The Wolf, Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen, 5pm

Curated by QM Records and presenter/promoter Peggy, this show brings together some of the finest live music from the UK. Let your roast dinner go down while you watch the likes of Show Boy, Nine8 Collective and loads more.

Wednesday, August 9

Affairs + Shanghai Blues + Hymns, The Old Blue Last, 8pm

It’s a mix of synth-based electro-pop-rock (Affairs), indie (Shanghai Blues) and alt.rock at the Old Blue Last this Wednesday. A safe bet to help you through those mid-week blues.

Boo Seeka, The Waiting Room, 7.30pm

Seeking some more Wednesday night fun? Then look no further than Sydney duo Boo Seeka, aka Ben Dumbleton and Sam Croft. Their mix of electronics and hip-hop will make the weekend feel like it’s come early (FYI, it hasn’t).
