PRS Foundation win Innovation Award for Keychange initiative at Classical: Next conference

The PRS Foundation won the Innovation Award at the Classical: Next music conference.

The organisation's international Keychange initiative was commended during the closing ceremony of the international music event which takes place in Rotterdam.

The Keychange project which aims to empower women to transform the future of the music industry is campaigning for a 50:50 gender balance on festival bills by 2022, while also promoting a more inclusive music biz.

“I’m delighted to accept this award on behalf of Keychange’s seven founding festival partners, 60 female artists and innovators and 160 plus pledge signatories from across the globe," declared PRS Foundation CEO Vanessa Reed, as she collected the honour.

We're committed to a more balanced and successful music industry

"It’s timely for us to be honoured at Classical: Next as we open our pledge to orchestras, conservatoires, concert halls and any music organisation who want to commit to a more balanced and successful music industry. I’m particularly pleased that De Doelen which hosted the conference is one of the first major European venues to sign the pledge in this new phase which will be launched formally on June 25 at the Swedish Ambassador’s residence in London.”

The Keychange initiative was also honoured last December at the SIM Sao Paolo conference in Brazil.
