Bauer Media has revealed that it is publishing a bespoke Leicester Hometown edition of Q magazine in honour of their April cover stars, and proud Leicester locals, Kasabian.
To mark the publication of the magazine’s world exclusive Kasabian interview (available Tuesday, March 14), the iconic Q logo will be transformed from red to blue, the colour of the band’s beloved Leicester City football club. A thousand copies of the regional collector’s issue, featuring the Leicester Hometown cover, will be sold exclusively in the Leicester area from Tuesday, 14 March.
Speaking about the special edition, Q’s Editor-in-Chief, Phil Alexander said: “Kasabian have always been proud of their hometown and this month’s Q cover story reflects that. In order for us to truly understand where they came from, Serge and Tom were kind enough to invite Q to hang out in and around Leicester for two days. As a result – and as Kasabian mark their twentieth anniversary - Q felt it was fitting to produce a special cover of the magazine that celebrates the band and the city that shaped them. It is the first time we’ve ever done what you could call a ‘regional’ cover like that, so we hope the people of Leicester enjoy it.”
During the interview Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan speaks candidly about his recent life-changing year, during which he moved out of the home he shared with his long-term girlfriend and daughter, and also addresses how he felt he was heading towards self-destruction. “Sometimes life throws shit at you and I didn’t deal with it very well,” reflects Meighan. “I was making myself ill, I aint gonna lie, my mind was jolted. It might have been a build up from years and years.”
