Shane Filan signs to Absolute for new solo album

By Sophie Nevrkla

Former Westlife member Shane Filan will release his third solo album as a joint venture with Absolute Label Services.

Filan will release new album, Love Always on Ocean Wave Records, partnering with Absolute, which is providing label services including distribution, marketing and project management.

Set for release on August 25, with pre-orders available now, the album will be backed by a full radio, TV and digital campaign as well as a sold out 23-date nationwide tour.

The 12-track LP features a selection of classic love ballads such as Make You Feel My Love and  Eternal Flame, as well as original songs such as Beautiful In White, which has already amassed over 70 million views on YouTube.

Filan cemented his position as one of the UK and Ireland’s most popular male solo artists following phenomenal success with Westlife – one of the most successful pop groups of the last few decades.

Westlife had 14 chart-topping singles throughout their career, amassing 44 million sales.

Filan said: "I’m really excited about this new album and working with the team at Absolute. I have an exciting year ahead planned with the Love Always album and tour."

The release is being coordinated by Fraser Ealey who recently joined the Absolute team as senior label Manager, having previously worked with the company on the recent McFly Anthology release as well as having overseen the release and tour campaigns for McBusted and Busted.

Ealey said: “We’re delighted that Shane has turned to Absolute to support his latest solo record. He’s had a phenomenal career, both with Westlife and as a solo star, and remains as ambitious as ever. With a large, loyal fanbase always eager to hear more from Shane, he’s in a position to do things on his own terms. It’s a privilege to power his independence and continued solo success.”
