Sting and Justin Timberlake to compete for Best Original Song at the Oscars

Sting and Justin Timberlake are among the nominees for Best Music (Original Song) at this year's Oscars.

Sting is nominated for his collaboration with J. Ralph on The Empty Chair from documentary Jim: The James Foley Story, while Timberlake is up for Can’t Stop The Feeling! from the animated film Trolls, which he co-wrote with Max Martin and Karl Johan Schuster.

Other songs battling it out in the category are Audition (The Fools Who Dream) from La La Land (music by Justin Hurwitz, lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul), City Of Stars, also from La La Land (music by Justin Hurwitz, lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul) and How Far I’ll Go from Moana (music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda).

Meanwhile, competing in the Best Original Score category are Dustin O’Halloran for Lion, Justin Hurwitz for La La Land, Mica Levi for Jackie, Nicholas Britell for Moonlight and Thomas Newman for Passengers.

Last year saw Amy Winehouse documentary Amy scoop the Oscar for Best Documentary, having also picked up awards from BAFTA and the GRAMMYs.
