UK acts have a strong showing among the latest inductees into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.
In the performer category, 2019’s crop includes The Cure, Def Leppard, Radiohead, Roxy Music and The Zombies. Janet Jackson and Stevie Nicks – already in as a member of Fleetwood Mac - will also be inducted next year.
It’s the biggest intake since 2004, with a total of 330 acts now in the Hall Of Fame. Artists become eligible 25 years after their debut. Jackson made it at her third attempt on the ballot.
The 34th annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on March 29 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. It’s accompanied by a 2019 exhibition at the Museum in Cleveland, Ohio in conjunction with the celebration. The ceremony will air on HBO and SiriusXM in the US.
Ballots were sent to an international voting body of more than 1,000 artists, including inductees, historians and members of the music industry.
Three of the Inductees were on the ballot for the first time - Def Leppard, Stevie Nicks (as a solo artist) and Roxy Music. The public also got a say in a fans’ ballot, which was tallied up with the figures from the voting body to determine the final list for 2019.
