The Kills, Gruff Rhys and Fat While Family are among the artists set to collaborate with John Cale as he celebrates the 50th anniversary of The Velvet Underground’s debut album.
Cale, a founding member of the legendary New York group, announced that his only European show to mark the occasion would take place in Liverpool last October.
Now, the musician has revealed the rest of the line-up, which also features Clinic, Nadine Shah and Wild Beasts.
The ‘reimagined’ show takes place as part of Liverpool Sound City on May 26 at a bespoke open-air stage facing out to the Atlantic Ocean and New York City in the heart of Liverpool’s historic docklands.
Cale commented: “It’s such a privilege to have this calibre of artistry about --- its not that they fit the legend, rather the legend is part of each of them. Stand back Liverpool - here we come!!”
He will also appear in conversation at Tim Peaks Diner as part of the festival on Saturday May 27.
Liverpool Sound City takes place from May 25-28, for more information go to www.liverpoolsoundcity.co.uk.
