Top 10 albums, singles, vinyls and streams of 2016 revealed

Following yesterday’s BPI and OCC report into music consumption in 2016, Music Week has rounded up the Top 10 albums, singles, vinyls and streams of the past 12 months.

2016 marked a second consecutive year of growth for the music industry, with streaming and vinyl sales driving a 1.5% increase in Album Equivalent Sales (AES) to 123.4 million.

The figures also revealed 2016’s most successful artists and releases. Adele’s 25 was the year’s No.1 album, while Drake’s One Dance was the year’s top-selling single. One also came out on top of the Top 10 most streamed songs of 2016 chart.

Unsurprisingly, the success of One Dance earned Drake the crown of most streamed artist of 2016.

As for vinyl, the late David Bowie’s Blackstar was the year’s top seller.
