Urban Development has announced new partnerships and curated events with BBC Music Introducing hosts Amplify and the KA & GRM Daily Rated Awards 2017.
In association with Universal Music UK, the music development organisation and education charity will run a series of special edition ‘industry takeover’ panels at the BBC Introducing hosts Amplify event on October 6-8 at London Excel.
Speakers will include Urban Development alumni, 1Xtra DJs and music industry figures including John Woolf (A-List Management), Alex Boateng (UD Alumnus and head of urban, Island Records), Alec ‘Twin B’ Boateng (1Xtra, Atlantic Records), Rebecca Wren (UD alumna and Apple Music) and DJ Ace (1Xtra).
Urban Development is also working with the KA & GRM Daily Rated Awards 2017 for a UK-wide talent search with a prize package – via industry brands LiveNation, Red Bull Studios, Vevo, Believe and Bucks Music Group – consisting of support ranging from artist development, recording and distribution to a place on the Get Rated Tour.
Urban Development has also issued an update on the progress of its talent development programme acts. Vocal collective Urban Flames are set to make an appearance at the Royal Albert Hall, while emerging artist Paigey Cakey is partnering with brands and releasing new music with an album to follow in the second quarter of 2018.

Urban Development was founded as a music youth charity supporting British urban music, as well as the wider UK music industry. Its talent development programme is backed by Arts Council England’s Ambition for Excellence fund and a range of other funders, including Universal Music UK and the BRIT Trust. The programme focuses on under-served and disadvantaged young people to create a pipeline for talent development and a national youth music organisation.
