Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff announce UK live appearance

Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff will make a rare UK appearance together this summer at Livewire Festival, a new event in Blackpool.

Alongside The Jacksons and Pete Waterman’s Hit Factory, the cult ‘80s and ‘90s rap duo will headline the event, which takes place at Blackpool’s Headland Arena from August 25-27. The Jacksons will finish proceedings on Friday, with Waterman’s show – which includes Jason Donovan, Sinitta, Samantha Fox and more – closing out the Saturday. Will Smith and Jazzy Jeff will play last on Sunday night.

A Livewire spokesperson said: “This is Livewire Festival’s first year and we are thrilled to be launching this fabulous weekend of music. We can’t wait to bring Will Smith & DJ Jazzy Jeff, The Jacksons, Jason Donovan and more to Blackpool, the best location in the UK for entertainment.”

Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff last performed together on The Graham Norton Show in 2013. The pair have won two Grammy Awards, their first was Best Rap Performance for Parents Just Don’t Understand in 1989, followed by Summertime in 1991. The duo have sold more than 5.5 million albums in America. Summertime, which peaked at No.8, and Boom! Shake The Room, which peaked at No.1, are both certified silver in the UK.
