Gigantic business development manager Simon Carpenter on G Flip's About You
Although first and foremost I am a rock kid at heart, I’m also a sucker for a pop melody. Working in the industry, I’m always learning about new artists breaking into the scene. Recently, the best new music I’ve heard is from Australia’s G Flip. Her songwriting, production and melodies create modern, emotive and anthemic synthpop. Released earlier this year, debut single About You is well worth a listen and new track Killing My Time is another real earworm. What’s more, alongside her own work, G Flip also finds time to teach guitar and drums to school kids and plays drums in the band EMPRA.
There is something really special happening in Australia at the moment, with acts such as Stella Donnelly, Confidence Man and many more all coming through. Gigantic MD Mark Gasson, along with a few friends, had the pleasure of seeing G Flip at South By Southwest in Texas earlier this year, where so many people were plugging her as the next big thing. G Flip was recently in the UK for The Great Escape and Dot To Dot and is now back home in Australia doing a few festivals. I’m certain we’ll be hearing much more from her.
