Spotify x Hulu
Spotify premium users in the US can now access Hulu’s ad-supported plan with no extra cost. The music streaming platform has made the bundle available for existing and new premium users.
The move follows Hulu lowering the cost of their ad-supported plan to $5.99 a month. It offers access to a catalogue of over 80,000 television episodes.
Play-N-Skillz time
Grammy-winning DJs and producers Juan and Oscar Salinas have signed with ICM Partners. The team of brothers that are better known as Play-N-Skillz will be represented by an international team of agents lead by Harold Froget. The duo are working on a new album and are planning a tour for the US, Europe and Latin America.
“We are proud to welcome Juan and Oscar Salinas to ICM,” said Froget. “As Play-N-Skillz, they have an impressive 10-year career, which is only getting bigger every day.”
Concord progression
Concord has hired Ruth Martinez as SVP for its human resources department. She will oversee the global human resources team and report to Concord CEO Scott Pascucci. Martinez was previously VP of human resources in global publishing at Warner Music Group.
“Talent is a company’s most valuable asset, whether you’re talking about artists and songwriters or employees,” states Martinez. “As Concord continues to grow, a culture of developing and retaining our talent will be even more vital to our future success.”
It’s Britney (on Broadway)
Britney Spears’ music is coming to broadway in a new comedy called Once Upon A One More Time. The show will use Spears’ back catalogue for a story that is based around a book club for fairytale princesses.
The show is scheduled for the autumn in Chicago before seeking transfer to broadway.
Q&A
Bauer Media’s Q Magazine has launched a weekly podcast. Q Presents… The Making Of focuses on the life and times of a recording artist. Each week, Q editor Ted Kessler will meet a songwriter and performer to discuss their highs and lows, the music that influenced them and their life beyond music.
The first episode features Jason Williamson of punk duo Sleaford Mods and is now available for download on Planet Radio.
