Google joins ERA board

Google and SoundCloud have joined the board of the Entertainment Retailers Association.

The ERA elections also saw independent music store Vinyl Tap join the board of ERA, which represents both global media companies and traditional physical stores.

Google has joined via its music and video services Google Play and YouTube. The tech company will be represented on the ERA board by Google Play and YouTube music content partnerships manager (UK/Ireland) Eduard Castello.

Music streaming service and sharing platform SoundCloud will be represented by director of content partnerships (Europe) Raoul Chatterjee, who previously held a position on the ERA board representing 7digital and acted as ERA chairman from 2014 to 2015.

Independent record shop Vinyl Tap, based in Huddersfield, is represented by store owner Tony Boothroyd.

ERA CEO Kim Bayley said: “For 29 years ERA has represented entertainment retailing in all its diversity. As we enter our 30th anniversary year, I am delighted to welcome three new and significant members to our board.”

The ERA board also includes 7digital, Amazon, Deezer, HMV, Proper Distribution, Sainsbury’s, Spotify and Tesco.
