Spotify has launched a virtual event listings function on its artist profile pages.
Active from today (September 15), the listings are powered by Spotify’s partnerships with Songkick and Ticketmaster and integrate platforms including Twitch, Instagram Live, YouTube Live and many more.
All virtual shows on Songkick and a selection from Ticketmaster will automatically be displayed on artist profiles and in Spotify’s concerts hub.
A blog post on Spotify For Artists acknowledged the continuing live shows vacuum during the pandemic and highlighted the role of virtual performances in connecting musicians and fans.
“Over the past six months, in the wake of Covid-19, we’ve seen artists adapt and innovate in incredible ways,” the post reads. “In lieu of live shows, staging virtual performances across a variety of platforms has become a vital way to connect with your fans, and share who you are with new listeners.”
It continues: “With many tours postponed until 2021, the necessity for these virtual events is set to continue, and we want to make it easy for Spotify listeners to learn about the virtual events for artists they love, and for artists they’re discovering for the very first time.”
