IMPALA is among the signatories to a new code of conduct covering streaming manipulation for tech companies and the music sector.
The code is designed to ensure the online world is a level playing field. It agrees best practices to tackle stream farms and other types of manipulation.
DSPs who have signed up include Amazon, Deezer and Spotify, alongside majors and indies from both recorded music and publishing.
Helen Smith, IMPALA chair, said: “Streaming manipulation is costing the independents a fortune. Last year we commented on the situation with Tidal and that was just one example. It’s vital we all work together to ensure a fair and sustainable online world.”
