National Arenas Association venues drew more than 7m to concerts in 2016

National Arenas Association (NAA) venues attracted audiences of more than 11 million people in 2016, according to newly-released figures. 

Its 2016 research reports have revealed average attendance to be 5,398 per show. Music was comfortably the most popular event type, drawing a total of 7,046,021 fans to 1,087 concerts (averaging 6,482). Average ticket price was £43.05. 

Established in 2001, the NAA represents 22 arenas across the UK and Ireland, operating as a informal industry body, sharing best practice and training in areas such as event management, health and safety, ticketing, customer service and accessibility. Derby Arena became its latest member last year. 

The full list of NAA members is: 3Arena, Dublin; Alexandra Palace, London; Barclaycard Arena, Birmingham; Bournemouth International Centre; Brighton Centre; Derby Arena; Echo Arena Liverpool; First Direct Arena, Leeds; Aberdeen GE Oil& Gas Arena; Genting Arena, Birmingham; Manchester Arena; Metro Radio Arena, Newcastle; Motorpoint Arena Cardiff; Motorpoint Arena Nottingham; London Olympia; Ricoh Arena, Coventry, Royal Albert Hall, London; Sheffield Arena; The O2, London; The SSE Arena, Belfast; The SSE Arena, Wembley and The SSE Hydro, Glasgow. 

Six of the venues are also members of the European Arenas Association (EAA). The 36 EAA venues attracted in excess of 17m people to events in 2016, averaging 6,120 people per show.
