Survey of Millennials reveals coolest festival

A new survey has found that the Isle of Wight is the ‘coolest’ British music festival.

The report from Eventbrite – the world's largest event technology and ticketing platform – asked Millennials what they thought of various music festivals across the country.

The poll of just over 1,000 21-37 year olds across the UK found that they consider the Isle of Wight is also a good place to meet attractive people, the edgiest festival is Download and Glastonbury is the best for looking good on social media.

However, those polled said T In The Park was not great if you wanted to avoid young or loud aggressive people, Port Eliot was for ‘posh people’ and WOMAD was seen as a festival for the more mature.

Nichi Hodgson, a journalist and dating app consultant who was asked to study the report, said: “Millennials are pickier about where they go. They’re more aesthetically conscious than people have ever been. The Instagram generation, the fact that they want to take a picture of everything they do means they have higher standards for venues, concerts, festivals. The way that festivals have come on in the past ten years has been incredible. Nowadays you expect an immersive experience.”

The ‘Brighter Futures’ study also found that Millennials would rather spend their last £10 at a food stall than at the bar, showing that alcohol consumption at events is on the decline among that generation.

More Millennials have not drunk at a festival (18%), than have passed out drunk (11%) and seven out of ten would rather pace themselves on the first night of a festival than go mad in the first few hours.

This is because many agree that they want to enjoy themselves and remember as much as they can about the festival.

The report also found that Millennials, on average, have been to 30 events in the last year which include one music festival, one food festival, one charity event and one talk/class a year.
